Anno Mungen gives a general introduction sketching the various features involved in the project, as e.g. nationalism, globalization, media, environment/ nature, gender/ sexuality. He furthermore details the plans for the upcoming events within the next two years.
In the second part, Thomas Betzwieser introduces a case study of reception, i.e. Wagner and Israel, based on the Bayreuth performance of the Israel Chamber Orchestra in summer 2011. He discusses the several paradigms associated to that special case of musical reception.
