trangia alcohol burner

once the fuel hets are working, can you sit a pan directly ontop of the burner?

Best stove ever made.

What brand of pot is it you are using? I noticed the Trangia stove lid corrodes quite easily.

@Masowai Didn't even notice you replied....I tried making a coke can stove a few times, but every time the can splits down the side a bit. Kind of at the point I just want to buy one. Then again I don't go camping as much as I'd like to or at all really and I rather kind of have a wood stove of some sort. Can always pick up a small trangia in any case I guess. Glad you had success with your stove.

How well does that alcohol burner work for you? I'm looking for a good long lasting one, so please reply.

@rizaaroni I don't even know what I was thinking. Since I made that comment, I have been hiking several times. I've used both Sterno and a homemade Coke can stove. There is no comparison. The alcohol burning stove is the only way to go. An analogy would be to compare a Bic lighter to a blowtorch.

@Masowai Because, IMO anyway, you can carry one stove and a bottle of fuel and you're all set. You'd need separate sternos for the same amount of burn time. Saves weight and is less wasteful. I'd imagine it'd be cheaper too, plus more burn options.

Could someone tell me why a Trangia is superior to a can of Sterno? Does it put out substantially more heat?
