The 1st of March is Self-Injury Awareness Day 2016 so we take a look into what we can do to help those that feel the need to self-harm.
In 2014, there were figures published suggesting there was a 70% increase in the number of young teens going to A&E for self-harm related reasons over the preceding 2 years. Of six thousand young teens surveyed in 2014, one in five fifteen year olds admitted to self-injury, it has been predicted that this number has only risen.
The focus of this show is to understand people who self-injure better and not judge, and to be able to talk freely about mental health issues so people affected don’t live in silence.
Chrissy’s guests include a representative from the Wish Centre, a charity supporting young people into recovery from self-harm and two real life story guests who both self-harmed.
Psychologist Dr Audrey Tang gives advice on where to seek help and how to approach a loved one that may self-harm and Chrissy gives tips on how to love and invest in yourself. Ben Cooper also shows some simple self-massage exercises.
The Chrissy B Show airs on SKY 203 every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 10pm in our cosy living room studio in the heart of London.
