Sarah's hair is noticeably darker here, closer to the brunette shade she sported on "All My Children" (by the time they aired the actual series pilot, she was a dirty blonde). Wow, this footage is not in good shape. Yes, Alyson Hannigan is definitely the better Willow but this one isn't bad, she's just more a wallflower than geeky. The chemistry just didn't jive with her and the others.

Seeing someone else play Willow is weird, especially when she looks and acts so differently. But I think the actress in this unaired pilot has something interesting about her... I think they should have written another role for her because she's a little unfitting for Willow (at least that's my opinion after I'm obviously used to Alyson Hannigan), but I can definitely picture her as a member of the Scooby Gang regardless. That being said, I'm surprised that many lines in the script have remained unchanged, but I'm glad they changed some of them around. Also, the library scene with Xander listening is way too long and a little bland at times in this pilot. Though they should have kept the spiral staircase and Buffy jumping from it like a badass. ;) The ending was really weird though. Not intriguing at all. I'm so glad they introduced the Master and the opening of the Hellmouth story arc in the official pilot because I think that's why the majority of people were interested enough to tune back in to the second episode.

"The new kid? She seems kinda weird to me. I mean, what kind of name is Buffy?" "Hey, Aphrodisia!" :) "Hey..." LOL gotta appreciate the Buffy humour ;)

There's so much hate for the Willow in this, I'd like to defend her. She's acting no worse than anyone else in the pilot. She seems genuine Rosenberg, nice and geeky. She's OG. Original Geek. Not like it was before all geeks had to be hot in some way. When I was a geek at school, geeks were geeks, not hot people in glasses. Now I love Alyson, and can't imagine Buffy without her, that goes without saying, but go this girl. Fuck the mainstream sanitisation of geekdom.

I liked this. I understand why it got picked up. Of course, Alyson Hannigan was a better pick for Willow, but I won't rag on the original girl. I feel bad for her because she was chosen, then replaced and the show went on to be hugely popular without her. That's a tough pill to swallow. Of course I expect a lot of Buffy fans to dislike it because it's different from the pilot that aired, and fans are unaccepting of differences, but I enjoyed it. Glad they added Angel to the cast though.

This is so fun. it's like seeing the rehersal of the play before the actual performance.
