50 year old Roald Bradstock, competing in his 8th Olympic Trials in Birmingham England on June 23rd, 2012 launches 72.78m on his first throw of the 2012 UK Olympic trials. This throw smashed the World Age Group Record with an 800g javelin and won him second place! He was not only the oldest competitor in the Trials, in any event, but he also became the oldest medalist in 76 years since 1936 with his performance that day!
