This song was very popular when I was a child.
This is the politically incorrect version. The verse about Aborigines (Abos) was quite controversial even in the early sixties when the song first came out. Some versions substitute "wombats" and some leave it out altogether.
Basically, "Let me Abos go loose" simply means "dismiss my field hands," who would have been native Australians, but "Abos" has the kind of connotations that "darkies" would have in America.
