I made this camera slider for around £25. Real easy to do and it works a treat.
Here is how I made it.

1 Tile cutter from B&Q store (£9.99)
2 Telephone socket blanking plates (£1)
4 PVC Pipe Clips
6 nuts and bolts
1 Jessops head.

Drill 4 holes to the bottom plate for the clips and bolt on.
Drill 1 hole in the centre of the top plate for the head bolt (bolt on the inside)
Fix the two plates together by using the two holes that are already there for securing to a wall.
Dismantle the Tile cutter so you are left with just the base and rods.
Push the head plate onto the rods and off you go!

SIMPLE!

I used the money I saved for a Zoom H4N.

I have used this slider for about a year now and it works a treat. I use a rag to rub some WD40 onto the rods for less friction before I work with it. Now and then I have to clean dirt from the clips.
