http://cctvcamerapros.com - CCTV Camera Pros created this video to provide a comparison of surveillance video recording frame rates captured by a CCTV security camera. The frames per second (FPS) video recording speeds compared in this video are 30fps vs 15fps vs 7.5fps vs 5 fps vs 1fps.

In CCTV Camera Pros experience, 7.5 fps to15 fps is the most popular range of recording frame rate used in video surveillance systems. The reason is because there is very little quality loss that can be seen by a human eye in this range. It should be noted, however, that when an owner of a DVR is playing back recorded video and wants to pause or export a specific segment of time, the higher the frame rate, the better.

In some newer network IP camera systems, video frame rate goes as high as 60FPS. In CCTV systems, the frame rate is generally limited to 30 FPS.
