The Land Ops Nav-Comm Club hosted the Extreme Night Operation. Presented by Surefire http://landops.com
Off road and overland 4x4 vehicles formed two main teams; Surefire Alpha and Surefire Bravo to complete a synchronized teamwork exercise involving night navigation objectives and communications exercises. This was a teamwork training exercise and a practice event for emergency communication operators in the ham radio community. Net control was operated by experienced operators at the Land Ops remote desert base camp on what is now the Twenty Nine Palms Marine Corp expansion corridor.
A night hike was conducted by team Black Boot. They were dropped off by team Surefire Alpha and extracted from their destination by team Bravo.
Special tasks; A rappelling exercise topped the night with a cache hidden in the crack of a rock face requiring a rappel team to find the cache in the rock.
This was a free event to all Land Ops operators. Membership requests can be made at www.LandOps.com (this will lead you to the club's meetup site.) Member applications with personal referrals from other members will help you get accepted.
During one of the nights the Marines conducted a flyby over our camp...low and slow (lights out). This was an exiting exercise / adventure.
