Ride4RealFood is about raising funds for better food security in your city. Funds raised support better access to fresh, healthy and local food for low-income people living in Toronto.

It all happens through the Coop Cred Program -- a partnership between West End Food Coop and PARC -- a community agency in Parkdale working with members on mental health and poverty issues.

With "Coop Cred", participants volunteer their labour to earn "Cred Dollars" that go directly to buying their own fresh, local groceries.

We are inviting you to join us in building food security by raising funds and on Sunday, September 14, joining us for the Ride4RealFood.

There are three cycling routes: a 35km "Park Ride", and a series of "Country Rides" ranging from 35 to 115km.

The 35km "Park Ride" takes you from Etienne Brule Park (behind Old Mill Station) along the West Humber Bike Path (along with some road riding).

Ride4RealFood 2014 Country Rides begin and end at McVean Farm, and are supported by a shuttle service to and from Spirit Tree Estate Cidery in Caledon. Riders may choose distances from 35 to 115 kilometres based on one-way or looped routes exploring Peel Region. Whether seeking a leisurely ride combining both road and multi-use trails or a challenging tour of the Albion hills, the Ride4RealFood Country Rides offer a unique opportunity to experience the biodiversity of the region that supplies much of Toronto's food and water.

All rides end at McVean Farm -- home to 20 different small farm enterprises in north Brampton. Upon arriving at the farm, you and your fellow riders will join the McVean Farm Picnic for a culinary celebration of next generation farmers.

The goal of Ride4RealFood2014 is to raise $40,000 in support of better access to fresh food for low-income people living in your city. For every $600 you raise, one new participant will have the opportunity to volunteer with Coop Cred and earn a year's worth of fresh groceries.

Beginning June 19, 2014, our customized fundraising platform goes live, where you can register to ride, raise money and spread the word. Stay tuned for more details
