Unboxing video of Sony's XBA-1, 2, 3 and 4. Experience Balanced Armature Series.

Quick review

Design and comfort: Solid build, anti-tangle cables thanks to its fat flat cables. Notice that the cable design is an r type. If you want the usual y-cable design, get the ones with microphone.

Isolation: Fantastic, they do isolate well. But however, high volumes may cause them to leak.

Sound quality summary:
Overall, enjoyable sound. Coloured but enjoyable. The XBA-4 has the most bass and it's certainly one of the most bassiest Balanced Armature monitor I've ever experienced. However the XBA-4 and XBA-3 has a bit of coherence issue with the crossover and maybe treble may sound metallic. But don't worry about the emphasised treble, because they can easily be toned down by EQ.

Looking for something more balanced? Take a look at the XBA-3. The XBA-3 also sounds more natural then its older brother. I honestly think it's the best of the bunch.

XBA-2? Hmm.. more bassy than the XBA-1 and that's pretty much it.

About the XBA-1, so far I liked it. It's not bassy I can tell you that but if bass is not too important to you, the XBA-1 will be perfect.

Alright, a bit of comparison.
Soundstage (how big your music sounds): 4 .. 3 .. 2 . 1
Detail (The XBAs are detailed but not micro detailed): 4 . 3 .. 2 . 1
Highs: 1, 2 .. 3, 4 (Sibilance can be an issue on 3, 4)
Mids: 3, 1, 2 .. 4 (vocals are a bit distant on the 4)
Lows (Quantity) 4 .. 3 .. 2 .. 1
Natura-o-scale: 1 .. 2 .. 3 .. 4
Value: 1, 3 .. 4, 2

.. Better
. Equal

Note that this review/sound in general is subjective. We may not hear the same thing but I can at least give you some things you will expect of these IEMs. Have a great day!!

@n1ghtf4lcon You speak the unequivocal truth my friend. Check ou my reviews. No, not looking for subs, just be honest and tell me what I can do better on.
William Henneberger
@n1ghtf4lcon They are good. But I'm embarrassed to like them. I'm a 34 year old man for christs sake.
William Henneberger
@n1ghtf4lcon Thanks for replying. Taylor Swift was not the bad ones...One Direction!!!! You did not read that.
William Henneberger
@wmh314 Basically, Turbines or xba-2ip?
William Henneberger
@n1ghtf4lcon Right now I currently own Monster Turbine Audiophile. I prefer bass, but I listen to so many genres and I pick my songs randomly. One day I will listen to all rock. Then when angry, I listen to rap. When I feel good, please forgive me, but I'll listen to Taylor Swift, etc.

Thanks so much. There were no reviews that showed the whole cord. I cold not find images. So glad you mentioned it. Hey, so, are the xba-2ip worth $89?
William Henneberger
@n1ghtf4lcon The Y cord is like the normal cord, right? Cuz one side being shorter than other is crazy. The xba-2ip are on sale at Best Buy for $89.
