Unboxing video of Sony's XBA-1, 2, 3 and 4. Experience Balanced Armature Series.
Design and comfort: Solid build, anti-tangle cables thanks to its fat flat cables. Notice that the cable design is an r type. If you want the usual y-cable design, get the ones with microphone.
Isolation: Fantastic, they do isolate well. But however, high volumes may cause them to leak.
Sound quality summary:
Overall, enjoyable sound. Coloured but enjoyable. The XBA-4 has the most bass and it's certainly one of the most bassiest Balanced Armature monitor I've ever experienced. However the XBA-4 and XBA-3 has a bit of coherence issue with the crossover and maybe treble may sound metallic. But don't worry about the emphasised treble, because they can easily be toned down by EQ.
Looking for something more balanced? Take a look at the XBA-3. The XBA-3 also sounds more natural then its older brother. I honestly think it's the best of the bunch.
XBA-2? Hmm.. more bassy than the XBA-1 and that's pretty much it.
About the XBA-1, so far I liked it. It's not bassy I can tell you that but if bass is not too important to you, the XBA-1 will be perfect.
Alright, a bit of comparison.
