"Mid-City Funk" : (Pleiadian Music, ASCAP) 1991
Composer : Chris Greco - composer, saxophonist/clarinetist/flutist

This video was filmed in Los Angeles in 1991 with a super 8 camera and the simple idea of capturing the vibe of the composition "Mid-City Funk." Free-flowing, spontaneous, black and white imaging mirroring the flow of the music.

The title "Mid-City Funk" was inspired by the area where I lived, in the "Mid-City" region of Los Angeles in an old California bungalow house. I commuted all over Los Angeles to perform and the connection to the streets and freeways of Los Angeles from my house was very convenient for getting around. The Atlas Bar & Grill (miracle mile), The Biltmore Hotel (classic downtown LA), Jax, The Alligator Lounge (Santa Monica), The Compton Lazben Hotel, are some of the regular gigs where we performed as the Chris Greco Trio, Chris Greco Quartet, Chris Greco Quintet.

The video shots of the freeways, many of the streets, the shot of the outside area of The Biltmore Hotel as I walk past with my saxophone case in hand, these were some of the locations where I drove and worked as a musician in Los Angeles at that time. In the final minutes, as the video shots show the band performing live in Glendale, CA, the players performing are the same as the players on the recording.
