http://www.Huttnz.co.nz The $16.5 million dollar development by NZTA to widen a 1km strip, which includes the notorious hairpin Muldoon Corner (so named because it was so tight) to large vehicles, which often crossed the centre line.
This footage taken on day three that enabled traffic both ways.
The new road is 10 metres wide, made up of 3.5 metre lanes and 1.5 metre shoulders.
While only taking seconds off the trip for the average motorist, it will provide safer passage.
The entire project due for completion mid 2012
