Stargroves latest music video for their song Hats in the Air pays homage to that great cult classic Harold and Maude directed by Hal Ashby. Here we find Stargroves lead singer Teddy Watson as the son (played in the film by Bud Cort) and actress Erika Amato as the mother (played in the film by Vivian Pickles).

Lyrics

Say hello to the sun for me
the thoughts that live under your stairs
saying come on son it's a beautiful day
it's a beautiful day
to throw your hats in the air
and say the words that fall out of nowhere
rebel on the run when you going my way
when you heading my way
go on chase all the noise away
the dreams that call you up so late
falling to the ground as your roots turn grey
as your roots turn grey
and that's where you're going to stay
And I tell you that I'm alright
but I'm terrified day and night
coming over with a bad cough
saying I've been on the road for so long
and you tell me 'bout the old days
and you say the world's a terrible place
and I say you're just an old fool
and I haven't got a minute left for you
Say hello to the sun for me
the thoughts that live under your stairs
saying come on son it's a beautiful day
it's a beautiful day
to throw your hats in the air
It's ok, call me crazy I don't care
sing it to me now as your roots turn grey
as your roots turn grey
holding hands all the way home
Oh I've seen blue skies break like thunder
rabid wolves that hog the covers
wasted on our souls' vibrations
bright like Christmas decorations
sleepless eyelids melt like plastic
cruising by on automatic
it's my hell and we're all invited
and I am so excited
Hey, the walls they shake
and I cannot believe
for you the lies come true
every word that you say
lighting up the way
for the summer on the road
they bend they break
far from any one place
I will starve, I will be bought
leaving the war that you wage
far far away from New York City
Say hello to the sun for me
the thoughts that live under your stairs
saying come on son it's a beautiful day
it's a beautiful day
to throw your hats in the air
and say the words that fall out of nowhere
rebel on the run when you heading my way
when you coming my way
So go on sleep all your days away
for dreams that call you up so late
get up off the ground as your roots turn grey
as your roots turn grey
You know it all looks the same out here
call me crazy I don't care
rebel on the run when you looking my way
when you coming my way
and say hello to the sun for me
the thoughts that live under your stairs
saying come on son its a beautiful day
it's a beautiful day
to throw your hats in the air
