Lighthouse has recorded a live DVD at QMusic. It captures Lighthouse classics plus newer songs and performances as close to a stage performance as possible, but with the super-fidelity that's available today in the best studios (48 tracks of Pro-Tools at 192kHz sample rate and 24 bits). Video director David Hoffert and sound producer Donald Quan decided to put the listener/viewer IN the band instead of in the audience, a perspective that they have both experienced - Quan as a sometime Lighthouse keyboard sub and David, who grew up traveling with the band and occasionally sitting in on bass.

Quan chose the microphones with extreme care and used almost no EQ in the mix. The mix concept is closer to a "classical" recording than pop. There is no attempt to create a horn "section" or "background" vocals. Instead, you hear each individual horn part, each individual vocal as we played and sang them.

Everyone in the band thinks this is the best and most honest recording we've ever made.

Although this will sound best on a surround sound home theatre, I think there will be stereo mixes included, for those who just want the sound.

Release is expected end of 2008.
