Episode 4 of a 4-part adventure by Babelcolour.

Bluffs and double-bluffs abound as the Doctors try to outwit their ultimate foe. But not every day is a victory and the Doctors have already lost far more than they ever realised. Can they now save themselves from oblivion?

The 'Ten Doctors' Quadrilogy has been reviewed by Tim Darby in issue 231 of 'Data Extract' - the official publication of the Doctor Who Fan Club of Australia, available June 2016.

There have been requests for a summary of Episodes 1-4 to clear up any potential confusion:

When the War Doctor used the Moment to end the Time War it fractured reality and splintered off an evil version of the Doctor (that was the big reveal at the end of episode 3). However, since he obviously shares the Doctor's mind, the evil version realises that there is a potential that the Doctor could one day rewrite his own personal history by going back in time and stopping The Moment from being used (which would mean the Big Bad Doctor would never be created)... so he has to ensure this will never happen and does this but hatching a plan to absorb the life-force of his "good" counterparts.

As a lure to get them all together in one place at one time he kidnaps the first two Doctors from their respective time-streams, which are not completely deleted however, as there are a couple of niggly little anomalies that need to be cleared up. The second Doctor had been lifted out of his time-line by the Time Lords to fight Omega in 'The Three Doctors' and so avoided deletion by virtue of the fact he was outside his timeline when it was wiped. Similarly, the first Doctor had previously visited Cardiff Castle with Ian and Barbara and had been protected from deletion by the Rift. To mop these up, the evil Doctor masquerades as the Time Lord President and sends all the other Doctors on a quest to collect them.

But it was a double bluff. The eleventh Doctor had already pre-warned them that the evil Doctor existed. concocting a plan via a video phonecall to his other selves in which they would play along until they could trace his hidden lair. Once they traced his signal to the planet Raston and found the portal to the dark dimension in which he was hiding they could spring their trap....

They revealed that they were fully informed of events by their eleventh self, who pays them a visit and instructs them to reverse the polarity of they distillation units holding the first two Doctors to send them back home, resetting the timelines. Hooray!! The Doctors have saved themselves and cornered their evil alter-ego.

But it was actually a double-double-bluff. The Doctors believed they had outsmarted their evil self, but he was one step ahead. The absorption process had already started and the Doctor's life force was already being absorbed. As his previous incarnations faded from history the Doctor's memory of them faded too. With each successive incarnation the Doctor remembered less and less about his other selves, which is why they argue about their age. the third Doctor states he is several thousand years old, the fourth Doctor refutes it. Their past is changing and being rewritten. They ask what is happening to them and the first Doctor says "If only we had a clue" to which the evil Doctor replies "The Medusoids".

You see that's the clue upon which their memories hinge. They start to remember the Cloister Wars when the Medusoids cascaded through the rift and attacked Gallifrey. The Doctor fell, stung by the monsters' fatal venom during his original tenth incarnation. Close to death the Time Lords saved him and gave him a new regenerative cycle, beginning with Hartnell's Doctor. As the facts reveal themselves their past incarnations fade away and become absorbed by the evil Doctor. They are next! Thankfully Peter Capaldi is on hand to rescue the others. And thank goodness for that!

He fills the chamber with a temporal dampening field, with K9s help, which freezes the evil Doctor in a stasis field. It gives them eleven minutes to find a way of ending his plan and saving their own lives. The key is to prevent him from ever coming into being. They will rewrite their own personal history by freezing Gallifrey in a parallel universe therefore preventing The Moment from ever being deployed. When the Moment isn't used the evil Doctor isn't created. They wipe him out of reality.

Gallifrey is saved, the Time War ends, all the Doctor's did their bit and the bad Doctor is erased. All in 45 minutes.
