ISL is the prime consultant for the streetscaping and public realm elements of the Columbia Avenue (105 Avenue) Streetscape in downtown Edmonton. Working closely with the City of Edmonton's Transportation Design team, this video has been created to show the preliminary design of the streetscape.

The design focuses on 105 Avenue between 109 Street (near MacEwan University) and 119 Street (behind St. Joachim Catholic Cemetery), approximately 2.6 km. The streetscape design shows a pedestrian-friendly corridor with a vision of an active and vibrant community on downtown Edmonton's northern edge. An urban park space will reside between 112 and 113 Street, and the streetscape will feature landscaped sidewalks, sitting areas, water features, large trees planted in structural soil cells, wayfinding elements and light columns similar to those found at the new MacEwan LRT Station (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lCpB01...) and along other portions of the North LRT (Churchill to NAIT) Expansion (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4uY9tb...).

3D Information
Massing models — the large, see-through boxes — represent areas slated for future development. Real-world capture using site photos provides realistic textures of existent buildings. Different seasons are represented for the urban park space, showing its versatility and usability during Edmonton's ever-changing weather conditions. Crowd images and animated bikers have been added to show street activities and for a sense of scale. Preliminary design features such as structural soil cells, tree grates, litter receptacles, sidewalk seating, bike racks, wayfinding columns, streetlighting, corridor light columns, primary gateway elements, parking area screening and access bollards have been popped out to highlight potential streetscaping elements, but the final products may still be subject to design changes.
