This snowball fight broke out while a large crowd waited for the Peak Express to open and ascend to the summit of Whistler Mountain on an epic powder day in mid February 2011. Both sides fought admirably, but but for those at the front of the line, throwing uphill and against the wind proved to be to much to over come.
The ski patrol, clad in their neutral, Swiss inspired attire tried to intervene between the two factions and even threatened to close the lift altogether before being driven back by a flurry of snowballs from both sides.
In the end those at the front of the line that were victims of the geographical disadvantage had the last laugh when they ripped through the 50+ cm of fresh untracked powder while the upwind instigators looked on anxiously waiting their turn.
