Love this sweet song, and Nancy's exquisite voice . The keyboard arrangement, and playing are so beautifully well done also. The words to this masterpiece song are such a wonderfull inspiration for me to enjoy our world, peace, life, and God ! Thank you for posting.
Only one comment since my last Christmas visit. Wow?    I haven't changed a jot of what I wrote last year. It's just got worse that's all. From an even greater distance - you look like my friend (dimly) - but looks can be deceptive... HOWEVER let's get the balance right: On a day when this country, I am ashamed to say, admitted to supplying illegal cluster bombs to Saudi Arabia to drop on hospitals. women and children in Yemen (all fellow Muslims) we MUST still be: '..... playing songs of hope, playing songs of peace - they're the songs of everyone' ... (apart from Muslim fanatics. Then they don't celebrate Christmas do they?)

jezhn - I mourn with you. May Allah have mercy on us.
....And twelve months later (does it seem that long?) it's time to listen to Nanci again and to have that end of year review - 'From a distance'. Are we marching in a common band, playing songs of hope, playing songs of peace? Can we comprehend - what all this war (and blowing up of children and holy innocents) .....  is for? Answers to God on a post card please. Address: At an Immense Distance - yet Closer Than Your Own Soul .....
+jezkn                    Getting my first like for this comment in 2014 made me realize I hadn't done my traditional Christmas visitation (with the Magi) to this song in late 2015.  So I'm visiting a month late!  From a distance you may look like my friend - but unfortunately when you arrive here and we welcome you in you then turn against us, against our values, against the very freedom and opportunity that attracted you here in the first place, and start attacking us and not even bothering to learn our language or why we ;are able to ;offer you something your own war torn country, riven by religious insanity, cannot give you.  No -  I cant comprehend 'what all this war is for' and I don't want it brought here either - by misplaced and naive attempts to love thy neighbour; who turns out to be an enemy in disguise . For love thy neighbour - read love the person that might shortly afterwards destroy you, your country and hard won values. This perhaps isn't the traditional message of ;peace and goodwill to all men we're used to at Christmas, but if we're dishing out oodles of good will - we sure as hell need the certainty that we're going to get it back from the 'done good unto' recipient.

+alzeeeeee Are you thinking of the Bette Midler version that was a Top 10 hit? I agree this is the best version.
It's that time of year again - heralding the Prince of Peace - and I'm back for a listen. But even from a distance you can see we haven't got that peace nor harmony in the world at the moment, where 'the ocean meeets the stream' Bring it on. Can you comprehend what all this war is for? We are the instruments of Peace marching in a common band. The hope of hopes .....
