The first Board of Governors of the Hebrew University in Jerusalem included Albert Einstein, Sigmund Freud, Martin Buber, and Chaim Weizmann.
Four of Israel's prime ministers are alumni of the Hebrew University. In the last decade, seven researchers and alumni of the University received the Nobel Prize and one was awarded the Fields Medal.

Among its many honored scientists are Dr. Uriel Levy, Head of the Nanophotonic and Optofluidic lab, Department of Applied Physics. Dr. Yaakov Nahmias, Director of the Center of Bioengineering and Dr. Naomi Habib a biologist and neuroscientist. They are interviewed here by Richard Peritz, for Shalom Show 986
