Where I work the VP changes the station daily. Each station plays the same set list every day, and the office we work in doesn't have speakers. Every Monday this song comes on around 11:00. My coworker, who for some reason absolutely hates the way he says "ooo-eee," will get up and close the door for three minutes so she won't have to hear it. Being young (23) she's not really familiar with the music of that era so she doesn't know most of the titles. I posted this to her Facebook timeline and I anticipate some cussing tomorrow morning.

On this day in 1971 {May 2nd} Johnny Rivers' covered version of "Sea Cruise" entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart at position #98; it stayed on the chart for 4 weeks, peaking at #84... Herman's Hermits also covered it; in the U.S.A. it was the B-side of "Just A Little Bit Better", which reached #7 on the Top 100 in 1965... Mr. Rivers, born John Henry Ramistella, will celebrate his 72nd birthday this coming November 7th, 2014 and Peter 'Herman' Noone, born Peter Blair Denis Bernard Noone, was also born in November; he will turn 67 years old on Nov. 5th, 2014...

From the Nautical sound effects, the blaring tenor saxes ,  of course Frankie Ford's spirited singing,  "Sea Cruise" got to be the most energetic rock song ever!!!   This recording really moves and then some!!!  A monument to  sheer joyful energy.
