Saketh from eGovernments Foundation gives a small demo of the capabilities of Tablet based Property tax Information system. In view of the increasing pressures on Urban local bodies due to urbanization and faced with declining or stangant revenues, tablet based property tax system can help the municipalities in increasing revenues by increasing the coverage and ensuring that the tax payers are paying fair share of taxes.

An assessment inspector with a internet enabled tablet can use the tablet to ensure that the property records in the system are in synch with the details on the ground. In case of any discrpancy, he can update the property records while on the field.

With rapid urbanization, a lot of new properties are coming up which escape the tax net. The use of tablet also enables the assessment inspector to enter new property records missing in the assessment registers thus increasing the coverage.
