From Richie Sambora's 1991 debut solo album, Stranger in this Town. An underrated album that most people seem to forget.
Richie Sambora, not a bad guitar player himself, attempts a cover of a guitar god's song. The song of Jimi Hendrix, in case you didn't know, although you probably did. So? How does he do? Well, considering you're comparing a 60s-era guy to a primarily 80s-era guy, the best that can be said is that the versions are different. Which is what a cover is meant to achieve, right? And you know, Richie does his part: he delivers on the cover, and while I'm not going to get involved in an argument about whose version is better, what I will say is that Richie does a fine job indeed of matching up to a guitar legend... and so what does that say about him?
