LYRICS

there's a land of mystery
its always been there waiting for you and me
there's a paradise in the heart of the city
you can hear the birds singing melodies...singing

this is where i belong
flowers bloom and rivers roam
this is my sacred home
in the forest is our song

open your heart, to what you feel
under the stars we have all that we need
open your heart, to what is real
´cause i don't wanna say goodbye to you
macritchie, macritchie...

banded leaf cute monkey
crimson sunbird sing in the tree
malayan colugo glide so high
flying lizard in the sky
mr. pangolin looking at me
baby colugo and her mommy
i love you, you love me
singapura is so sweet

we got gold-ringed cat snake, lesser mousedeer
did you know we got a rainforest here
forest walking catfish, oh wow!
spotted tree frog right here right now!
we got musang and leopard cat
greater slow loris, naked bulldog bat
yellow-bellied puddle frog, big-eye whip snake
save macritchie before it's too late!

open your heart, to what you feel ´
under the stars we have all that we need
open your heart, to what is real
cause I don´t wanna say goodbye to you, macritchie...

i don´t mind taking a longer ride on the MRT for macritchie...
we don´t mind taking a longer ride on the MRT for macritchie...
i don´t mind taking a longer ride on the MRT for macritchie...

"LOVE OUR MACRITCHIE FOREST" - The Song
A beautiful song, sung by Children of Singapore and Lysa Aya, in support of a campaign to protect Singapore's natural heritage. Written by Lysa Aya (singer and songwriter with Singaporean roots) and Itaal Shur (Grammy award winning composer and musician), the song for MacRitchie Forest was inspired by a milestone eco-art performance event called "Chained To Our Roots" (22-23 June 2013, Speakers' Corner, Hong Lim Park, Singapore), where the 'Love Our MacRitchie Forest' movement was launched.

"LOVE OUR MACRITCHIE FOREST" - The Music Video
This music video is part of a campaign to raise awareness for a precious primeval forest in the heart of urban Singapore. MacRitchie Forest, within the Central Catchment Nature Reserve, holds the largest stand of primary forest in Singapore, and is refuge for many native plants and animals. Some species are known nowhere else in Singapore. As such, these species may be lost from Singapore if the forest is disturbed. The environmental music project is co-produced by Teresa Teo Guttensohn and Vilma D'Rozario in Singapore, and by Lysa Aya Trenier in NYC, USA (Jun 2013 to Feb 2014).

"LOVE OUR MACRITCHIE FOREST" - The Movement
The movement was launched in response to the Land Transport Authority's (LTA) announcement in early 2013 of the new Cross Island MRT line (CRL), which is proposed to run underneath MacRitchie Forest in the Central Catchment Nature Reserve (CCNR). The campaign urges the LTA to reconsider the proposed alignment of the CRL. The movement calls for all Singaporeans to love and cherish their natural heritage before it is too late. Lost ancient eco-systems cannot be replaced. Leave a little legacy of awe and wonder for the children of Singapore!

NEW YORK CITY MUSIC TEAM : LYSA AYA AND ITAAL SHUR

It is an honor for me to have written this song for the Children of Singapore, and co-produced this music video to celebrate our natural heritage. Thanks Singapore for a cherished childhood growing up at 26 Medway Drive, Serangoon Gardens. Dedicated to my mother, Lydia Wong, and in loving memory of my grandparents, Mama Rita Cheong Wong (1929-2003) and Peter Wong (1924-2010). ---- Lysa Aya

Itaal Shur is most known for writing the song "Smooth" with Rob Thomas for Santana which received the Grammy award for "Best Song of the Year" in 1999 and went on to help sell over 25 million copies. In addition, he was nominated for the "Best Song of the Year" at the Latin Grammys for the song "Más Y Más" by Robi Rosa in 2004. He has written songs for Maxwell, Jewel, Santana, Ricky Martin, Cyndi Lauper, Lucy Woodward and more. Itaal's new favorite animal is the Musang, which he like many others, never knew existed before this project! "We got Musang!" Yay!
