Track 4/4, from Fausten (Ad Noiseam adn167EP).

We reach in Abort the apotheosis of this EP. All that I love in this project is here : deep downtempo beats, industrial elements all over the place, detailed bass parts and a strong propensity to unsettling atmospheres.

A distorted siren opens this track while we are lost in a misty wood, already announcing things we will not like to cuddle. The beat kicks finally in, supported by a modulated bass part that seems uncatchable, constantly having a pitch going up and down when it comes. An unexpected cousin of the maracas stands here because it's the only regular sound in the background, over the broken beats and the bass lines. Our only landmark in this tortured track. But the worst is coming, don't worry.

Saturated and noisy sounds enter the track, and possibly act like the supernatural and frightening being that follows us since the beginning, spying our moves and hiding in our backs as soon as we try to see them. But it seems like this creature had enough to play with us, and finally shows up at 2:59.

Is it a cry or only static, is this real or are we dreaming ? Well, the shout at 3:34 would have definitely woken us up if we were in a nightmare, unfortunately. That beast could look like the Slenderman, I really like this urban legend, his look and what surrounds it.

An unrestrained run through a foggy forest begins when the maracas-like sounds accelerate, but even we know that escaping from him is not possible. A survival reflex, but entirely useless. He knows where we are and will catch us when he decides to. He shouts from every direction, scares us because it's fun.

And around 6:00, we eventually fall from exhaustion, not able to run anymore ; and then he comes, a monstrous shadow pointing between the trees and walking towards us. We are not ready, we never will. But do we have a choice ? Fausten does definitely not let us one, while the final note slowly fades out with our mind.

Enjoy folks, and if you feel like it, I'd like you to share your sensations too, here in the comments section or on my Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/adda.ambient
