Members of the Army, Navy and Air Force will raise the flags at the London 2012 medals ceremonies.

A pool of 176 servicemen and women, working as nine Army, eight Royal Navy and another eight RAF teams, will take part in 805 victory ceremonies.

Dressed in their ceremonial day uniforms, they will also raise the flags to formally greet the athletes at 100 welcome ceremonies. These are held in the days leading up to the start of the Olympics and Paralympics.

They were picked for their sporting or operational achievements, or their local community involvement after the Ministry of Defence called for nominations. Teams will include six flag bearers and one flag manager. There is also an overall commander who will be working with London 2012 officials.
