Video of a Reverse® Shoulder Prosthesis implant procedure. The Reverse® Shoulder Prosthesis is a device made of metal and polyethylene. Contrary to the shoulder's natural ball-and-socket anatomy, the implant design reverses the structure of the joint so that the ball portion is attached to the scapula and the socket is positioned at the upper end of the humerus. This arrangement makes the joint more mechanically stable, which improves comfort and function by allowing the patient to take advantage of the muscles that are still present. This is a replay of a live webcast originally aired on 8/10/09.
