Here's an example of our house vintage drum kit in a soul/funk style with a open sound, as opposed to a dead/dry 70's funk approach.
The kit used is available for any session at the studio, it's a chrome wrapped 1970's made in Japan Pearl, ala Bonham.
The sizes in the video are: 24" Kick, 14x8 Snare, 14, 16 & 18 Toms
We also have a 13" in this series.
The kit sounds incredible and combined with our experience recording it in the room and our insane gear list, adding this flavour of drum tone to your record is easy, fast and a a lot of fun. Mics used are: OHs - Cascade Vin-Jets + Neumann KM85, Kick - AKG D112 & Tele U47, Snare - Top Tele M81 + bottom SM57, all Toms - Audix D-Seres, Rooms - Custom Stereo Condenser + Tele AR51s.
The drum kit was recorded by The Armoury's owner Troy (TKO) Kelly. Using the studios SSL 4kK console and outboard by Neve, Universal Audio, Manley, Vintech & Heritage Audio.
The Armoury uses HEDD Monitors and Lynx converters.
