Britain's most senior openly gay cleric may sue the Church of England unless it promotes him to Bishop. Rev Jeffrey John was forced to give up his appointment as Bishop of Reading and was blocked from the post of Bishop of Southwark in 2010.

Actor Christopher Plummer and the cast of Modern Family expressed their dismay at anti-gay protestors at last night's Golden Globe awards in Hollywood. Plummer said, "...there's an awful lot of anti gay feeling right now... and I abhor it."
