A taste of Bali at http://www.bali1.com with tropical island stories and lots of photos of hotels and villas. After traveling the globe, Bali became our home. Due to a 'special touch' not found in Europe, US, South America, Australia or New Zealand. It's a rare kind of thing. Choosing a location because you're born there or because you get paid with stock options to be somewhere is one thing. Bali is different. For some strange reason, what includes in no particular order the people, the feeling, the style. The Art Of Life. And seeing things from a different angle.
Some of the best things start to happen when you stay for a while. Most people that come here for just the usual 3 to 14 days totally miss it. They think they "saw it" but it usually escapes them. For others that somehow couldn't quite make their return flight a secret realignment begins to take place, and circumstances suddenly change. Sometimes the whole concept of life changes. It's like a reduction on the essentials at first, that's why constantly 'busy' people usually don't get it. Think of it like a new menu in the making, perhaps last considered in childhood memories, that suddenly resurface. And with it some ideas of what you originally intended to do in your life.
Try one slice of Balinese culture, two spoons of imported style, a seasoned dose of groove, some healthy spicy food, get a new shirt - and you're in the mix. In touch with the current moment. Not unusual here to wake up 5 in the morning and walk down the beach from Seminyak all the way to Kuta and back. Without shoes. Just because it's impossible to sleep one moment longer. It's like as if you struck an oil mine. But of a different kind, one that doesn't postpone to get the benefits later when "you totally made it". This one is live right now. Life as it happens is so much more attractive than the theory of it. Many expats settled here and it seems like a long time since we all sang the popular Frank Z song "It can't happen here" back home. Of course it still won't happen over there, that's why they give you stock options instead - so you won't notice. But it does happen here.
