Following Deadline, this was my next target in my levels/idgames/doom/ campaign. It would seem Ty Halderman was a bit tired when he processed this WAD, as this is very clearly for Doom II, not (Ultimate) Doom. Oh, well, it's technically for a Doom game, so why not?

The author states that he found the early levels of Doom II too easy, and so he created his own entry into the game. I hate to break this to you, J.C., but if /this/ were the first level of Doom II, people would've abandoned it in a heartbeat. Like it or not, there are very few people willing to tolerate endless corridors with little to no height variation. (Sorry, but the occasional long drop and elevator ride does /not/ count.) The level also features several different themes with no cohesion, compounded by the fact that like many bad Doom II levels, J.C. used Wolfenstein SS in a Doom setting unironically. And despite what the text file implies, this level is really, really easy. In fact, the only difficulty in this level is maintaining the patience to get through this level to the end. The author may call it "Delightful," but this level is anything but. Skip this one.

This was my fourth exit; my first exit was 5:13, followed by 5:06 and 5:05. I could try to optimize it further, but let's face it: Life is too short to do that on a level this boring.

(After this level is about an episode's worth of standalone levels by Simo Malinen. Before I tackle those, I'll record runs on a few levels that precede dethe1m1.WAD in idgames/levels/doom/. Stay tuned...)
