One of the Greatest Pianist from 19th century - now almost forgotten - , Vladimir de Pachmann (1848 - 1933) plays Chopin's well known piece, Nocturne In B Major (Op.32, No.1)
Pachmann was very famous in his time for his "Chopinzee" on-stage style - a collection of huge gestures, muttering, and addressing the audience during his performance. For example, You can hear his VOICE during the final one minute of the recording.
Anyway, a sweet performance indeed. (Pachmann was 78 years old when he recorded this!)
I put the Archive footage of Pachmann (filmed in 1923, during his Welte-Mignon Piano roll session) at the last minute of the Video.
This record is a Japanese Pressing.
It was a part of big disc set called "Immortal Selection of Great Victor Artists", which was released in 1935.
I also have another pressing of this record, which was part of a 5-disc album set called "Vladimir de Pachmann - Loved Repertoires." (released in 1933, shortly after Pachmann's death). But this pressing sounds much better.
Played on my Victrola with Fidelitone needle.
