The Ruinator!
Don't get us wrong, the electronic dartboard is pretty nifty, but we felt that it could be improved. What if we programmed it to play our favorite Saturday Night Social game complete with a performance responsive drink dispenser, complete with everyone's favorite, Red Bull and vodka?
This is team Ruination's entry into the Red Bull Creation competition. We took an old electronic dart board and switched out the internals with an Arduino Uno! Using just some plastic spacers from Home Depot and some magnet wire and a steel bolt, we made some of our own homebrew, low flow, solenoid valves. They worked like a charm. We also added some awesome LED's and an LCD display. That along with an old cabinet we had lying around, we made a super cool darts drinking game fit for the classiest party. The game works by dispensing certain drinks for the different numbers on the dartboard. Obviously the triples and doubles count as triple and double drinks. When a number on the dartboard gets hit by a dart, the corresponding solenoid valves (homemade, of course) open and the bottle lights up. The drink flows through its tube and into the drink. This is really exiting because it opens up other possibilities of other games we can make using the dart board. We basically created an open source darts platform that can be programmed and updated.
