The Massachusetts Archaeological Society (MAS) and the Taunton River Watershed Alliance (TRWA) sponsred an Archaeological paddle in the watershed: a canoe/kayak tour featuring the Taunton River and its tributaries. The trip was guided by Dr. Curtiss Hoffman, past president of MAS. Dr. Hoffman is an activist supporting the rich historical values in the watershed. A Bridgewater State University anthropology professor, he recently contributed to the important discussion among developers, regional lawmakers, and the State Historical Commission debating the ability of a medical software company to expand on archeologically sensitive land located on the South Coast.
