Irene Vincent tells a story about how this painting's beginning started by piling paint on the canvas and setting the paint on fire to form textures and the beginning image. She saw a Phoenix or Quetzal bird forming as well as a snake. Most of her work is about the union of opposites, the sacred marriage. She also added feathers on the snake's head to make it more mythical.
