On 4th July 2015 Milestone Society celebrated the completion and opening of work to the Crossing the Pennines Walk Ways. This was following the winning of a grant of nearly £50,000 to renovate areas of Packhorse Trail around the villages of Marsden and Slaithwaite.
The refurbished walkways take walkers on a historical as well as a cultural journey as the paths also features works of art from local artists including Melanie Wilks.
The opening day was well attended by both public and dignitaries who included the Mayor of Kirklees, Cllr. Paul Kane as well as the Queens Representative Deputy Lord Lieutenant, David Pearson.
