The recent drought in the Horn of Africa should trigger the urgent need to find lasting solutions that focus on reducing the impact of drought on the lives and livelihoods of the communities.
"Drought is a recurrent phenomenon and what this simply tells us is that we should be better prepared. What we need to do is to have policy makers and practitioners to design long term solutions, we need to strengthen institutions (local and regional) that are working in resilience building and perhaps more importantly, we need to work with the communities on ground to draw from their experiences," says Robson Mutandi, Country Director for the International Fund for Agricultural Development in Ethiopia.
The ShareFair brings together different actors to share lessons learned - both good and bad -- with a view to adapting and up-scaling them to the regional context.
