Crew survived highspeed crash in Africa.
Horrible highspeed crash of Ford Ranger Dakar # 301 in Morocco Desert Challenge. South Racing crew is OK!
Tomas Ourednicek / David Kripal - South Racing CE
Tomas Ourednicek: The end of the special, the last 20 km, was on the beach, flat out, with the maximum speed was over 180 km/h. We passed some SSVs, and we already saw the flags of the finish when we ran into a big hole on the track at maximum speed. Car flies directly in to the sharp step-up on oposite side of hole. It wasn’t visible until the last moment. Nothing was noticed in the roadbook (and we were the first car and stage winners). Unfortunately, this can happen in racing, whoever would go the first car, faced the same problem. We counted later on the onboard video that we rolled nine times before landing on the left side. Fortunately, our Ranger was strong enough to withstand the force and save us, it’s unbelievable, but the rollcage was not damaged. WE ARE ALIVE !!!!!
