Nature and places on the lower stretches of the Barrow Valley from Lower Tinnahich to Ballytiglea in County Carlow, taking in Graiguenamanagh in County Kilkenny. The main artery in the valley is the River Barrow and the Barrow Navigation. The valley is bounded on the East by the Blackstairs Mountains in County Carlow and Mount Brandon on the West in County Kilkenny. The towpath, known locally as The Barrow Line is one of the most beautiful natural grassy pathways in Ireland, if not Europe. This pathway is under attack by commercial interests that want to turn it into a cycling super highway, without concern for the rare habitats and nature that lives there and the many walkers that prefer a grassy footpath.
