Neil Bromley is a Calligrapher, Heraldic Artist and medieval Illuminator based in Devon, UK. He produces the majority of his work on vellum (calf skin), which means his work will still be around in hundreds of years time. This is an intricate and captivating vocation.

As part of his practice, Neil often brings his work to life by applying 23K gold-leaf – a process called gilding. In order to get the best results, Neil wakes up at 5/6am in the morning, when the atmosphere in the air is just right to make the gold-leaf stick. Neil prides himself in in using traditional methods and shows his practice allows for optimum contentment.
