This has been one of my favorite songs since I first heard it as a teen. The organ solo at 2:46 still gives me the chills...

+DutchGuyMike Nowadays you have to look in the underground to witness some good modern music or be a fan of a particular music genre.

Nope- 'Get What You Give', 'Hold On My Heart', 'U Sure Do' and many others are much, much better.
Always thought this tune and Seal's "Crazy" were brilliant companion pieces.
+destiny66 Something also leads me to Tracy Chapman's "Fast Car"... just saying.

The lyrics of the song reference the Apollo Missions of the 1960s, characterised as "man's greatest adventure"; the sleeping satellite of the title being The Moon. "....Sleeping Satellite is about mans adventures to the moon and was written in the summer of 1989 at the time of 20th anniversary of the first manned landing on the moon. The song is intended as a comment on how in the 20 years since the first landing little progress appeared to have been made in space travel/exploration. It's not intended as anti space travel, it's just the opposite and it bemoans the fact that at the time of the anniversary the initiative had not been progressed from the original achievement. Hope this helps. Love and peace, Tasmin...."

amazing 90's song, the 90's was a great time for me as a kid, and this is one of the most underrated songs of all time, great music video. just a great song so well written.
I discovered this song thanks to a radio station, but I had no idea it was an old song. I thought I found some cool band holding on old beautiful music traditions.
