Here is how to answer the weakness question in a job interview. Don't make excuses for your weaknesses. Let them figure out you have a weakness, but don't volunteer it.
Question: I had a phone interviewed and was asked the following question: "In a scale of 1 to 10, ten being the best, how do you rate yourself in EXCEL Spreadsheet?

My answer was: " I rate myself 6-7. However, I tend to rate myself lower. "
The hiring manager thanked me for my honesty. But I don't think I should have answer with that low rate. He asked me that one of the strong requirements was to do pivot table in EXCEL software. I told him I was familiar with pivot tables. However, he said that they need someone that can do it with NO training. That is why I rated myself lower than usual.
What should I have done differently? I'm going to my friend's house tomorrow for her to show me pivot tables.
