Based on the original 80s anime series Super Dimension Fortress Macross.
You might know this series better as Robotech, but that's an American rerelease of the series. I couldn't resist making this when I saw the first trailers for Star Ship Yamato, an upcoming Japanese sci-fi film that looked perfect!

Macross is an epic space opera concerning a alien ship that crash lands on Earth. Years later mankind has rebuilt it and modified it as The Macross, but on its inaugural flight day the aliens return in force to reclaim their captured technology. The Macross jumps into hyper space while still on Earth, taking a good piece of the city with in. Millions of miles from home now the survivors must rebuild civilization within the warship itself and fend off continuous attacks from the Zentradi menace which still plagues them. But curiously the Zentradi prove to be very human in appearance (despite their gigantic size). Discovering a means to end the war with them might not only save The Macross but also determine once and for all the origins of the human species.

This show had everything. There were jet planes that morphed into robots, spy intrigue, massive battles, political power plays, romantic triangles, all played out by compelling and multi dimensional characters.

I'd love to see a Macross film with real asian actors! It continues to make me confused as to why they don't make anime influenced films made in America using asian actors.
And yes I know I've made 3 of these! If they make the movie I'll stop making trailers XD
