Two Square tubes are positioned in the CNC vise with a 1/4 inch thick parallel separating the parts. The Tormach is equipped with a shop built right angle head supporting a Kress high speed auxiliary spindle on the X axis. The cutting tool is a 1/4 inch diameter, 60 degree conical burr. The Kress spindle is running at setting number 4 (21,000 RPM). The Tool cuts a fine chamfer on the outer and inner surface of the tube end. Feed rate is 50 IPM on the cutting pass followed by 100 IPM finish pass. Although the part is aligned to the machine axes, the tool feeds three axes simultaneously at each side traverse of the part so as to utilize a continuously varying portion of the cutting edge. The G-Code program accepts parameters for tube size, tube wall thickness and the outside radius of the tube corners so as to accommodate various size product. The tube ends are deburred in about 30 seconds.
