Richard Widmark's screen debut as psychopathic gunsel Tommy Udo in 1947's "Kiss Of Death" has to be one of the most jarring in Hollywood history and is brutal by today's standards, not to mention 1947. His portrayal has to be seen to be believed. The little-known (at the time) Widmark won The Golden Globe for New Star Of The Year and was nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Oscar. Not bad for a beginner. Here's his most famous scene, but there are lots of other awesome Widmark moments in this violent film noir.
