David A. Johnston, a volcanologist, first reported the 1980 explosion of Mount St. Helens. Located in an outpost about 6 miles away from the volcano, he was killed by a lateral blast. He died doing what he believed in: protecting the public at all costs. In the video, Johnston's cousin explains who he was and how he was a hero.
