These three short pieces, played by Ronald Šebesta at the 2015 Indian Summer in Levoca Festival, were written after the premiere of Stravinsky’s Soldier’s Tale in 1918, as a thanks to Stravinsky’s clarinet-playing sponsor, Werner Reinhart. The tango of the last piece recalls the Soldier’s Tale, whilst the second piece is one of the earliest of Stravinsky’s compositions to show the influence of jazz.
