Documentary about the Nieuw Ensemble's collaboration with Brazilian composers. Since 2009, a frutiful dialogue with the newest concert music from Brazil was created over two competitions, commissions of new pieces and premiere concerts in Holland at the Concertgebouw, Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ and Korzo Theater.
In 2009, the Nieuw Ensemble launched a competition for Brazilian composers. The response was overwhelming: ninety scores were sent in from all corners of the gigantic mainland, most of them especially written for the ensemble. On the occasion of the Brasil Festival Amsterdam, a second edition of the competition was launched in 2011. The winning works have their premieres played by the Nieuw Ensemble next to three other pieces comissioned to outstanding talents of the previous competition. This project was made in collaboration with BAMdialogue -- a musical exchange between Brazil and Amsterdam -- of the composer Caio Amon.
