The marmots at Spielboden cable car station, Saas-Fee, Switzerland are tame and used to humans. They are under special protection by the community of Saas-Fee and can be fed with vegetables and fruits such as peanuts (without salt), apples and carrots. It is forbidden to feed these animals with sweeties or sugar-containing food as this might cause skin eczemas and, as a consequence, the animals can die from it during hibernation. Marmots are very intelligent animals. They can open backpack zippers and clips if you show them how to do it. Sometimes, they gesticulate with their pads to beg for food. They are very curious. Sometimes, if you put a camera on the ground, they investigate it and try to push buttons.
