Parathas, a popular whole-wheat north Indian flatbread, either made plain or stuffed with some spicy potato/ aloo fillings and cooked to perfection.

Paratha was conceived in Punjab but now it's become popular all over India and South Asia. A Paratha can be eaten simply with a blob of ghee, butter but tastes best with pickle, thick curd, chutneys or any curry or gravies.

Aloo paratha is famous and well known as the Indian flat bread stuffed with spiced potatoes originating from the region of Northern India. This delicious and filling dish needs a little knack and patience to make and this causes a lot of people to get turned off and avoid making this dish. One of the secrets to getting this right is to get the consistency of the dough correctly, once the dough is made right the rest of the recipe is pretty simple and easy to prepare.

Ingredients 200 grams Chapati Atta 1/2 tsp chat masala 2 tbsp Cooking oil 1/2 tsp cumin powder 4 number Green chillies 1/2 bunch Green coriander leaves 1/2 tsp Lemon juice 1 number Onion 3-4 number Potato 1 to taste Salt

Instructions 1. In one pan sieve 200 gms chapati atta. Add , cooking oil, and salt. 2. Mix it well. 3. Add mashed potatoes, onion, green coriander leaves, green chillies & lemon juice mix it. 4. Add little water to make a soft dough. 5. Keep a side for about 10 to 20 minutes. 6. Make frying pan (Tava) hot on medium heat. 7. Take small ball from dough and roll it in circular shape . 8. Place it on hot tava. When it gets little brown, apply oil or ghee. 9. Turn it and again apply oil or ghee on other side. 10. Keep turning simultaneously until it gets golden brown. 11. Tasty Aloo Parathas are ready!!! 12. Serve it with curd or dhaniya chutni (coriander chutney)or butter or pickles. 13. see the video for rest of instructions

Traditionally this is served with a little plain yogurt on the side and a little pickle, but you could even serve it with some curry or dhal to make it more filling and to make it a complete balanced meal.

Aloo in hindi means potato. Although potatoes are the universal favorite vegetable, kids are more found of this Indian flat bread. The paratha was first conceived in the ancient Punjab region, but soon became popular all over India (and even current Pakistan), including southern India. The southern Indian states have their own versions of the ubiquitous paratha, the most popular being the Kerala porotta.

Stuffed Aloo Parathas is an Indian recipe and probably one of the most popular Punjabi breakfast dishes around. Stuffed Parathas are essentially unleavened dough stuffed with a spicy mixture, which is rolled out and lightly fried on a griddle. Parathas can be stuffed with potatoes, cauliflower, cottage cheese (paneer), onions or just lightly mashed leftover vegetables, as long as they're dry.

One of the easiest recipes that can be prepared for a breakfast or lunch or dinner is a stuffed paratha. They are very filling. Paratha stuffed with Aloo curry is the easiest of stuffed parathas. Well it definitely make the parathas taste better but if you are calorie conscious you can avoid the butter. It tastes great on its own.

Its main ingredient is wheat rich in carbohydrates and less in sugar content. Usually parathas are taken as a main dish with some gravy or curry as the side dish. But as potato is rich in starch, diabetic patients please stay away. Good balanced meal for kids.
